The Maldon in Bloom team are working hard to make Maldon a lovely town and we need your support. This year we are celebrating 15 years of Maldon in Bloom! What do you need to enter? Just enthusiasm and a community spirit - no horticultural qualifications are required. There are a whole range of competition categories for both residents and community groups. So don’t delay, get involved –- love your town.

Each year an open meeting is held to give residents of Maldon the opportunity to ask questions of the Town Council and to raise matters that are of concern to them. The Annual Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday 24th April 2012.

Following the elections held on 5 May 2011, there are 5 unfilled seats on the Town Council, one in East Ward, one in North Ward, two in South Ward and one in West Ward. The Council has agreed to fill these vacancies by co-option.

An open meeting will be held on Monday 28th February 2011 in the conference room in the Town Hall at 7.30pm to discuss the town’s Christmas lights and festivities.
The Town Council is seeking to establish an independent voluntary Maldon Christmas Community Group so that the tradition of Christmas Lights and Festivities in the town can continue and improve.

Maldon Town has been awarded a Silver Gilt in this year’s Anglia in Bloom Competition. Cllr David Denyer, Chairman of the Maldon in Bloom Working Party, said that he was very pleased that the town was able to maintain this level of achievement for 4 years in a row, particularly given the difficult economic situation.

The Friends of the Moot Hall have now taken on the lease of the Moot Hall in Maldon which is owned and maintained by Maldon Town Council. The lease was signed in the Council Chamber of the Moot Hall by Town Mayor Ken Smith and Trustees for the Friends, Richard Wooldridge and Peter Hedge.

The Maldon Town Council annual meeting was held on Monday 19th April 2010. The meeting began with a welcome speech from the Town Mayor, Councillor Michael Bentley, followed by an opening prayer by Rev. Canon Carter.

Maldon’s popular Splash Park in the Promenade Park will be opening for weekends, bank holidays and all school holidays during the summer from 1 May 2010
The Splash Park is not the only activity on offer in the Promenade Park, the majority of which are free. Families can enjoy the model boating lake, play parks, picnic spots and a large open space for family activities.
