Friary Walled Garden
This is an old garden site and suffered a period of neglect but is now being cared for by volunteers from Maldon & Heybridge Horticultural Society. The garden is very small and normally open to the public for a short time once a month.

Promenade Park
Recently refurbished 100 year old Edwardian park with ornamental lake, magnificent river views and walks. The Promenade Park which is free to use has the very popular childrens' Splash Park which is open all summer. It also has a large ornamental lake, amphitheatre, play galleon and fort, aerial runway, model boating, crabbing lake, three sand pits, children’s play area, children’s maze, skateboard and BMX area, a scenic riverside walk, formal gardens, cricket and football pitches, tennis courts, a variety of shops selling food and refreshment and numerous events held throughout the year.. All in all, something for everyone - even Mums and Dads!

Northey Island (National Trust)
This is a designated site of special scientific interest (SSI) especially important for over-wintering birds. It is believed to have been the camp base for the Viking army, when the Battle of Maldon took place in AD991. Visits can be made by appointment with the warden or on the bi-annual open day.
